.NAME NEWS! the name TOFFEE has been rumoured?

.First band practise of the year went off with a dull thud. We were all really tired and it took us a while to get back into the groove. Hopefully we can get sorted and work some stuff out to do and now Andy has pledged his alegence to the band we can begin to bash out some poor quality music. The big band name finals have begun and it will be up to our friends to decide some names that the band has thought of.

.No band activity will be happening over Christmas because Dave is going to Thailand!

.Rumour's have been circulating about Mr Jackman's departure from the band but are untruue at the moment. as much as andy wants to be in a good band he cant be arsed to play guitar cause he wants to play drums so doesn't come to practises. Remember if it's not on the website it's untrue.

.A practise should happen soon. meanwhile a lot of writing has been going on and about 5 songs have been penned by myself and Tom.

.If anybody would like a demo tape of SPAWN please give me a tape or a contribution so i can make you a copy of our first demo recording.

Check the photos section for band photos.

Behind the Music
Set up by Tom and Andy in 2001 an the first practise on New Years eve 2001 going into 2002 in my garage and it was bloody freezing. It was raw and dodgy but you could tell from the start that the original set-up of Tom, Andy, Me and Graham was not going to work so it had to be changed.

The name was decided in a french lesson by Andy J SPAWN then we were set to go with Dave on drums and Andy on guitar. We then chucked out Graham and Mr Slinger took over vocals a mistake we would later regret. Graham now spends a lot of time with his girlfriend Hannah and ends up as the butt of mine and Dave's jokes sometimes.

The line-up consists of:
Tom Slinger- Guitar (vocals)
Dave Nickerson- Drums
Andy Jackman- Guitar
Howard Peryer- Bass

We started to get gigs like the church youth club which we rocked then we played in the school music festival in battle of the bands. In which we came a shameful second to a year 11 gay band. Was it because Andy called the judge a 'Stupid Schlag' or was it because the song we played 'Wasted' was poor because Tom had written it. I don't know.

We played at the Anvil in the late Spring in-front of 1500 people and played two cover versions of 'Just a Day' by FEEDER and another one by Wink 184. I was high on sugar at the time of playing after eating about 20 sugar cubes then got really nervous and forgot what to play. It was a success and we got called back oonto the stage at the end to take a proper bow. We also got a review in the basingstoke Gazzete which read 'a promising pop band' pop, what the? we are not a pop band.

We then took a short break and then returned to play a barn gig in Wotton where we played some more covers which sounded good apart from the singing and 'Spiders' by system of a down which Andy made us do.

After a long summer break we had some more practises and have continued to. i am currently learning bass properly under the expert guidance of ANDY JONES who is the master of all things guitar.
Many songs have currently been or being written and the music is non-Genre specific which means it's just us not another rock band.

I opened up a vote for the band name and hopefully we will get an improved name.

Songs Index
We have written 5 complete songs and i have rated them for you, to rate them yourself buy the demo. The credits are just the main contributers and infact all aspects of the songs are band produced apart from 'Wasted' nobody would want to take credit for that, not even Graham.

'Wasted' music and lyrics by Tom Slinger. 1 out of 5. so poor it doesn't appear on the demo which means it's diabolical.

'All for you' music by Tom Slinger, lyrics by Howard Peryer. second song and with a strong melody. 4 and 3/4 out of 5.

'57' music by Tom Slinger and Dave Nickerson, lyrics by Howard Peryer. Very rocky and a drum solo. 4 and 3/4 out of 5.

'Cycle' music by Tom Slinger, Dave Nickerson and Howard Peryer. Instrumental and quite contemporary amazing since it has the feel of my vitriol, at the drive-in and a kind of jazzy blues feel. 4 and 3/4 out of 5.

'Daisy's' music by Howard Peryer and (Andy Jones), lyrics by Howard Peryer. What can i say it's got everything i must give Sir Andrew Jones a bit of credit because he does need reassurance that hes still got it. Stunningly simple yet amazingly effective a real classic. 5 out of 5.

More are on there way!

A dodgy photo from a recent practise @ the basement.

Random Stuff
Remeber to vote for band name on the about page and this page because the most popular will become the bands new name.

.We desperaetly need a new singer so if you can sing or know anyone that can sing contact me and they should have the job.

it would be useful if they could play the guitar or piano as well. and we don't want any no good punks that like crappy pop punk like bowling for soup and new found glory. we play proper original music which doesn't all sound the same.

.Are you are a big symphony orchestra, looking to join an up coming british band? If so contact Tom on his telephone.
